Partners

Program like KISCODEP cannot be successful without collaboration with other like-minded personalities or organizations. Locally, our members attend seminars or workshops organized by various stakeholders. This strengthens the effort of our dedicated personnel in fulfilling our objectives.

Major partners are:
1.    The Kenya ICT Trust Fund
It would not be possible for the organization to run the E-learning Centre without tangible support by this organization. After realizing our effort towards empowering the slums community, It was wise for this organization to supplement our effort through sponsoring the “Eureka Software” and few computers in our E-learning department. This department exposes poor students to a unique combination of over 4000 interactive 3D Videos, simulations, virtual experiments, web links and quizzes to simplify abstract concepts in mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Despite a small number of computers, we have made a significant impact especially to poor students who rarely step into school laboratories due lack of school fees. In addition, adults who were bright and could not be able to sit for their fourth year exams find it easy to learn these subjects and thereafter sit and pass the exams thereby giving them confidence in looking for jobs or pursue further education. We welcome well-wishers who would help us make even a greater impact in this line.

2.    Koinonia Community
Being an organization started by residents of Kibera, we would not make much effort without encouragements from Koinonia Community, especially by Fr. Kizito. We are at times supported in kind to help our beneficiaries. We have orphans and vulnerable children and women who solely depend on us for their livelihood. When we can’t afford this enormous care, we usually seek solace from this organization.

3.    The NGOs Coordination Board
This is the organization that is mandated by the government of Kenya to:-
•    Register, coordinate and facilitate the work of national and international NGOs operating in Kenya.
•    Maintain a register of national and international NGOs operating in Kenya with their precise sectors, affiliations and locations of their activities
•    Receive, analyze and evaluate the annual reports of NGOs
•    Advise the government on the activities f NGOs and their role in development within Kenya
•    Provide policy guidelines for NGOs for harmonizing their activities with the National Development Plan
•    Develop and publish a code of conduct for the regulation of NGOs and their activities in Kenya
•    Prescribe rules and procedures for the audit of accounts of NGOs.
KISCODEP has strictly followed the requirements and has always sought assistance of the NGOs Coordination Board.

4.    Civil Society Urban Development Programme (CSUDP)
This is an innovative urban intervention programme designed to facilitate equitable and sustainable urban development through identifying, strengthening and coordination of urban Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for effective delivery of the urban development programme. Selected serious organizations have been mapped to enable donors all over the world to identify the projects for support and in specific locations within the urban settlement without duplication. More information can be obtained from www.csudp.org .

5.    Provincial Administration
KISCODEP works hand in hand with Provincial administration. All our projects are recognized by the Area Chiefs, Councilors, District Officers, District Commissioners and Provincial Commissioners in relevant places.

6.    North Central College Students (USA)
We thank our friends from North Central College, from Chicago, Illinois. We have been friends and partners for more than five years. Our beneficiaries who are vulnerable engage in small business enterprises to earn livelihood. Some are engaged in handicrafts, from i.e. beads, bone materials, clothes etc. Our friends have contributed to offer market for these products for sales abroad, besides small supports at times.

7.    Umande Trust
This is one of the organizations in Kibera that is concerned with provision of water and sanitation. Because “water is life”, we have been working hand in hand with our Umande friends to improve the health of the residents of Kibera. The organization also gave us a lot of support when we started by lending us some money which we in turn lent to our beneficiaries to start businesses for their sustainability.

8.    National Aids Control Council of Kenya
This is a body responsible for implementing, supplementing and supporting war against HIV and AIDS through identifying and supporting credible organizations which are capable of assisting the government’s effort in curbing the scourge.

The body inspects our activities pertaining to HIV/AIDS through their Field Officers in the District. We usually file our Reports with the District Coordinator four times a year (i.e. from 1st Quarter to 4th Quarter) and in turn given Certificate of Reporting Compliance. This gives us a full recognition by the government to work in this sector.

9.    The City Council of Nairobi
In our urban network, we work hand in hand with the City Council of Nairobi in order to achieve our objectives. We take keen interest in understanding their bye-laws for our smooth operation within the city. Wherever we have any function that needs their notification, we strictly follow the rules.
