About KISCODEP

Kibera Slums Community Development Program (KISCODEP) is a non-profit making and non-governmental organization registered in 2007 and whose activities are tailored towards poverty alleviation, employment creation and wealth generation through community empowerment. In deed, this is in perfect harmony of the Kenya’s development strategy of ensuring sustainable economic growth and enhancing social development through investing in the human capital of the poor.
The organization was firs started in June 2006 as a community based organization by few members of Kibera Slums in order to alleviate the burden emanating from poverty experienced amongst themselves. A broad vision was developed, i.e. to bridge the gap between the poor and the rich in the community. This is because poverty is across-cutting issue in this country and not confined to Kibera alone. The foregoing is therefore the reason for upgrading the organization to an NGO in 2007.
It is invariably clear that KISCODEP has been contributing to the Kenya’s development agenda as embodied in various blueprints as well as in realizing the critical targets and benchmarks of the Millennium Development Goals.
